Winter Driving Tips from Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group

November 22nd, 2021 by

Winter is right around the corner. Soon, you will be dealing with snowy, wet and salty conditions. Now is the time to start preparing for the rough roads ahead. At Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group, near Philadelphia, we’ve put together some of our best tips to help you during the upcoming season.

Check Your Wipers

You want to be able to see clearly during the blinding snow. Having the right wiper blades installed on your Audi or Volkswagen is essential. If you park outside, you need wipers that won’t break while sitting in the freezing temperatures. Don’t forget to also change your windshield washer fluid to something that handles the colder weather. It’s also possible to treat your windshield with water-resistant wax to deter the buildup of dirt and slush.

Focus on Your Headlights

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, you want to make sure your headlights are equipped to handle the drive. The housings must be clean and clear so you can see correctly. Coat the headlight covers with wax to prevent any accumulation. This keeps you from having to stop and wipe off the headlights during the drive. You can also switch out the bulbs if you don’t currently have LED or HID installed. This helps you to see clearly during the snow.

Other Winter-Weather Tips

Among those top two tips, you also want to consider a few more points.

  1. Change your oil.
  2. Upgrade to winter tires.
  3. Test the car battery and replace it if needed.
  4. Carry a winter emergency car kit with you at all times. It should include a first-aid kit, flashlights, blankets and more.
